För några veckor sedan kom beskedet att den amerikanska basketligan, NBA, slutar testa spelare för cannabis-substanser vid drogtester. Beslutet går in linje med flera delstaters liberala inställning till drogen, där bruk av cannabis helt eller delvis legaliserats.
Nu reflekterar även Snoop Dogg över beslutet och säger i en intervju med ESPN som HiphopDX citerar:
“I thought about the medical side of it, the health benefits and how it could actually help ease the opioids and all of the pills that they’ve been given and the injections…”
Snoop Dogg säger vidare:
“I thought about that side and how certain players have been able to have a beautiful life after sports because of the fact that they’ve been able to treat themselves with that. And now that the NBA is being lenient just like the NHL and just like Major League Baseball, it’s all the same thing.”
Frågan ställs på sin spets då elitidrottsmän inom andra sporter använder en lång rad olika substanser för att läka skador och öka prestationsförmågan. I fallet med cannabis ser Snoop inga risker:
“As long as it doesn’t enhance your skills to make you play better or give you an advantage, you should be able to treat yourself and heal yourself.”
