Usher planerar att hylla afroamerikanska artister under sitt Super Bowl-framträdande: “I didn’t get there by myself”

Usher planerar att ta hjälp av andra legenderiska afroamerikanska artister under sitt Super Bowl-framträdande på söndag den 11 februari.

Inför Super Bowl LVIII ställde Usher upp på en intervju i “Good Morning America”, där han beskrev vilken påverkan framträdandet kommer att ha för honom.

“I think about what our country has kind of represented for Black artists. Having to, at some point, go through kitchens to even be able to perform for an audience. They have to leave back through that same door, fear for their lives, as they went to the next state to do the same thing. So I’m coming through the front door with this one”, säger sångaren i intervjun.

Även om han fortfarande väljer att hemlighålla vilka gäster som vi kan tänkas få se under framträdandet, så avslöjar den åttafaldiga Grammy-vinnaren att han kommer att bära med sig en del artister som inspirerat honom.

“I didn’t start where I am now, and I didn’t get there by myself. So, everybody that has been a part of it, I’m carrying them with me. All of my fans, my loved ones — the people who may have felt like they have been forgotten, they haven’t. I’m carrying you right with me when I walk on that stage that night”, avslutar Usher.

I samband med hans framträdande under Super Bowl kommer Usher även att släppa sitt nionde album i veckan, som blir hans första soloprojekt på åtta år.
