Mac Millers fond fortsätter att ge tillbaka till det kreativa samhället i hemstaden Pittsburgh för att hylla den bortgångna rapparen och hans arv. Nu lanserar man 75 “micro-grants”, det vill säga mini-stipendier, på drygt 8000 kronor som kommer att ges till artister som är svarta eller urinvånare. Ansökningarna har nu öppnat och kommer att vara så till den 23 juli.
“This program is yet another wonderful example of how the fund is channeling Mac Miller’s spirit in the Pittsburgh region and the rest of the country. As his fame skyrocketed, he shared his musical artistry generously – allowing people to internalize it however they would choose, and he reached out broadly”, säger Pittsburgh Foundations vd Lisa Schroeder.
De artister som tilldelas stipendierna kommer att presenteras den 1 september. Fonden startades i samband med Mac Millers död 2018.
“The BIPOC Artist Micro-Grant program is a way for the Foundation to carry forward Mac Miller’s creative and artistic legacy and his family’s vision for helping artists, particularly younger artists, recognize their full potential”, säger vice ordföranden för Foundation’s Center for Philanthropy, Kelly Uranker.
2019 donerade fonden drygt 800 000 kronor till ett lärlingsprogram för ungdomar med problem, så att de kunde utveckla färdigheter för att jobba med ljudteknik.
