Dr. Dre har såklart hunnit med en rad bedrifter i sin karriär vid det här laget, men nu kommer en till. Under onsdagskvällen kom nyheten att producenten och rapparens debutklassiker “The Chronic” arkiveras i anrika Library of Congress och deras nationella musikregister.
“The National Recording Registry is the evolving playlist of the American soundscape. It reflects moments in history captured through the voices and sounds of the time. We received over 800 nominations this year for culturally, historically or aesthetically significant recordings to add to the registry”, säger Carla Hayden från kongressbiblioteket.
“As genres and formats continue to expand, the Library of Congress is committed to working with our many partners to preserve the sounds that have touched our hearts and shaped our culture.”
“The Chronic” släpptes som bekant 1992 via Death Row Records och distribuerades av Interscope. Det blev Dr. Dres första soloalbum efter att ha lämnat N.W.A och Ruthless Records.
Fler av årets utvalda verk som är “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” inkluderar bland annat Whitney Houstons “I Will Always Love You” och Tina Turners “Private Dancer”.
