Se kommande NFT-kollektion med The Notorious B.I.G.

Innehåller exklusiv ljudupptagning av ikonisk freestyle.

Crypto-plattformen OneOf har presenterat ett NFT-samarbete med Notorious B.I.G.’s dödsbo för “Sky’s the Limit: The Notorious B.I.G. Collection”, efter att ha hintat om det redan i mars månad.

Kollektionen kommer innehålla unika 3D NFT-figurer inspirerade av Biggies liv, texter och stil. Köpare av en NFT får dessutom rättigheter att licensiera en ljudupptagning av den ikoniska freestyle Biggie levererade vid ett gatuhörn i Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn som 17-åring. Ljudupptagningen har aldrig tidigare släppts eller gjorts tillgänglig för sampling eller nedladdning, förrän nu.

“Biggie’s music is a very important part of hip-hop culture and it’s global impact. Our business partner, Elliot Osagie of Willingie Inc, came up with the concept of coming together with OneOf to share the infamous freestyle that showcased to the world the icon that Biggie would soon become through an NFT, and sharing it with his fans in this way we are certain would make him proud”, säger Wayne Barrow, manager för Voletta Wallace/the Notorious B.I.G.’s dödsbo.

Joshua James, medgrundare och operativ chef för OneOf, tillägger att NFT-kollektionen är ett historiskt ögonblick vad gäller kryptovalutor.

“We named this collection Sky’s the Limit because we believe this is a watershed moment in NFTs where seminal artists like Biggie and their truest fans can drive culture and drive value together. We’re thrilled to work with The Christopher Wallace Estate to honor Biggie’s enduring legacy, in web3 and beyond, and we have some amazing surprises for NFT holders along the way.”

Kollektionen görs tillgänglig via OneOfs hemsida från och med den 25 juli och kommer kort efter att hela staden firat vad som skulle blivit Biggies 50-årsdag. Vid hyllningen tändes bland annat Empire State Building upp i rött och vitt med en roterande krona runt masten, för att hylla raplegendens debut “Ready To Die”.

Bad Boy Records släppte också en limited edition-vinyl av det diamant-certifierade och Grammy-nominerade albumet “Life After Death”. “25th Anniversary Super Deluxe”-boxen innehöll bland annat åtta LP-skivor och en fullsmetad booklet med sällsynta foton från albumets omslagsplåtning. Den går att köpa för drygt 2 000 kronor.
