Saweetie kommenterar homofobi inom hiphop: “We all bleed the same”

I årtionden har både objektifiering av kvinnor och homofobi inom hiphopgenren diskuterats flitigt. På senare år har diskussionerna knappast blivit färre, då fler och fler vågar ta steget offentliggöra sin sexuella läggning. I samband med Lil Nas X framgångar och befriande sarkasm både mot sig själv och kritiker, samt kontroversen kring DaBabys uttalanden som fick honom dumpad av flera stora konsertarrangörer; är ämnet ännu en gång på tapeten.

I samband med sin spelning på Sprites virtuella konsertserie uttalar sig nu Saweetie kring homofobi inom hiphop.

“I think that it’s important that we all respect each other. We all bleed the same. We’re all human beings. I was raised in a household that believes in respecting everyone, no matter who they are, no matter what they do, because at the end of the day, we’re all equal”, säger hon i intervjun.

“We all need to call out what we’re uncomfortable with. We need to call out what we stand for and what we believe is right.”

Hennes kommentarer liknar de som Houston-rapparen Megan Thee Stallion erbjöd nyligen, då hon sa:

“Representation is important, and it is really crucial for us all to have compassion and acceptance of every human.”
