Under gården släpptes den senaste upplagan av The Pin-Up Magazine med ingen mindre än Travis Scott på omslaget. Under intervjun öppnar rapparen upp om det kommande albumet ”Utopia” och vad namnet betyder för honom.
“Utopia is something that people feel is so far-fetched and out of reach, some perfect state of mind. But you create it yourself. There are people who achieve utopia every day. They may not be the richest people with the dopest cribs, but it’s a utopia wherever they are, and that’s the most you can have”, sa Travis Scott till Pin-Up. Han fortsätter:
”With every album I live in these worlds in my mind — I’m trying to show people experiences where utopian things can exist, and you can enjoy yourself and have a good time. They can create energy that spews out magical things — new cures, new buildings, new avenues for people to move forward. People need to see that utopia is real”.
Än så länge finns det inget bekräftat släppdatum för albumet men det verkar vara här inom en snar framtid. I måndags syntes Travis på filmfestivalen i Cannes. Och på röda mattan bar hans säkerhetsvakt en brun väska med texten ”Utopia” skrivet på framsidan. Det har blivit något av en trend för rapparen – var han än går har någon i hans team ”Utopia”-väskan fastkedjad på sig. Det är dock oklart om vad som faktiskt finns inuti väskan. Enligt Epic Records vd Sylvia Rhone så ska albumet släppas i juni.
Under intervjun öppnade även Travis upp om drömmar som sträcker sig utanför musiken. När hans rapkarriär är över tänker han ge sig in i arkitektur- och designervärlden. Till Pin-Up berättar han:
“Architecture is my true passion. I plan to apply to the architecture program at Harvard GSD when I’m done with music, which won’t be for a while. It would be dope to do both at the same time”.
2018 föreläste dessutom Travis på Harvard University. 500 studenter fick då ta del av hans Master Class i kreativitet. Det var arrangörsgruppen No Label som stod bakom föreläsningens förverkligande och i samband med Travis besök på Harvard sa de:
“We wanted our attendees to engage with a creative who defies the labels placed upon them and could speak to the journey of staying true to one’s vision. With his creation of ASTROWORLD, Travis Scott has done just that”.
