På söndagskvällen gick 2021 års MTV Video Music Awards av stapeln i Barclay’s Centre i Brooklyn, New York. En show där Doja Cat både agera värd och tog hem pris för bästa samarbete tillsammans med SZA för låten “Kiss Me More”. Bästa hiphop, alltså låt, togs hem av Travis Scott feat Young Thug och M.I.A med låten “Franschise”. Bruno Mars och Anderson .Paak hade också en minnesvärd kväll då deras nya duo prisades för bästa r&b med låten “Leave the Door Open”.
Det var dock inte allt som hände under galan. Dels uppträdde Jack Harlow och Lil Nas X, där den senare också vann pris för bästa musikvideo med “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”, med hiten “Industry Baby”. Dels blev det bråk mellan Machine Gun Kelly och Conor McGregor på röda mattan. Källor till TMZ menar att UFC-fightern bett MGK om en bild men blev nekad och därefter kastade han sin drink mot rapparen och sägs ha varit redo att slåss.
