Många vet hur svårt det kan vara att hålla ihop en grupp om tre, fyra personer. Men att en av världens största och mest ikoniska hiphopgrupper lyckats hålla ihop under alla dessa år är minst sagt imponerande. Som många vet har det dock inte varit helt utan komplikationer och intriger. Vid flera tillfällen har pengar och egon trasslat till relationerna i gruppen, även om man alltid lyckats reda ut dom.
Just detta öppnar Raekwon nu upp om i en ny intervju med VladTV, där framförallt relationen med frontmannen RZA diskuteras. Under samtalet beskriver Raekwon sin kollega och vän som en “kultledare” i sitt sätt att hantera problem och gryppdynamik.
“He’s one of them like you could be super tight at RZA, and the minute you see him and start addressing the situation you look him in the eyes, and he start talking to you with mannerism and respect. He always knew how to control his emotions, so he was never was like us when it came down to really spazzing. RZA was well-balanced when it came to dealing with his emotions. Once you talking to a brother you love and at the same time put you on game to get you where you at he know how to spin shit around”, förklarar Raekwon.
Han menar också att RZA är en sådan person att man när man diskuterat klart är man ofta övertalad. En gång fungerade det dock inte, då Rae ifrågasatte producentens “system” och RZA kontrade med att det var fel på gruppen snarare än honom själv.
“I could never respect that. Now you pointin’ fingers. Now you tryin’ to throw it back on us when in all reality, you are apart of us, so it’s all of us. Where you get this ‘you’ sh*t from? Like I said, I would say the same things to the boys, too, because I’m a vocal n-gga.”
Han fortsätter:
“When it come to me feelin’ some kinda way, I gotta say something ’cause I’m hearing the chatters in the house. So, when you hear the chatters in the house, it’s like, yo, what the f*ck are we doin’? Yo, let’s get to it. Let’s find out what’s going on.”
“A lot of times, it was always the love that we had and the respect there, that the business got way caught up in it. And a lot of times it’s like, like I said, I feel like yo, damn, I don’t really wanna spaz on my n-ggas because I love these n-ggas, and at the same time, we built somethin’ so beautiful, that the world is attracted to it. So, let it go. Let it fly. It’s gonna fix itself.”
