Eddie Murphy hyllade sin standup-kollega - Common, Q-Tip och Mos Def uppträdde på efterfest.
På måndagskvällen tilldelades komikern Dave Chappelle det prestigefyllda “Mark Twain Prize for American Humor”, uppkallat efter den hyllade 1800-talsförfattaren, vid en ceremoni på John F. Kennedy Center of Performing Arts i Washington D.C. Tidigare har bland andra Richard Pryor, Whoopi Goldberg, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Murray, David Letterman och Julia Louis-Dreyfus mottagit utmärkelsen. Vid prisceremonin sade Chappelle i sitt tacktal:
“I love my art form because I understand every practitioner of it, whether I agree with them or not I know where they’re coming from. They want to be heard, they got something to say, there’s something they notice. They just want to be understood. I love this genre, it saved my life.”
På plats för att hylla komikern fanns bland annat Common, Bradley Cooper, Tiffany Haddish, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Trevor Noah, Jon Stewart, Pharoahe Monch och många fler. En av modern tids främsta standup-komiker, Eddie Murphy, hyllade Chappelle i ett förinspelat tal, enligt CNN:
“Dave is one of the most, maybe the most, intellectual comedian ever…”
På efterfesten uppträdde en rad prominenta MC:s och vänner till Dave Chappelle, som Common, Q-Tip och Mos Def. Se klipp nedan!
