I början av året stod det klart att Thundercat skulle släppa sitt nya album “It Is What It Is” den 3:e april. Sedan dess har vi fått singlarna “Black Qualls” och “Dragonball Durag”, den senare med en synnerligen speciell musikvideo. På tredje singeln “Fair Chance” teamar han nu upp med Ty Dolla $ign och Lil B för en hyllning till vännen och kollegan Mac Miller.

“This song is about Mac. When he passed it shook the ground for the artist community. Ty’s a strong dude and when he heard the song he knew exactly what it should be. I was there when he recorded it. We talked about what it was, and he did what he felt was right to it, and I love what he did”, säger han i ett uttalande.
