LL Cool J släppte sitt senaste album “Authentic” 2013 och en uppföljare har både ryktats och utlovats av rapparen själv sedan dess. Men nu verkar det i alla fall som han har påbörjat arbetet. I en tweet publicerad nyligen förkunnade veteranen att han jobbade på ny musik med ingen mindre än Q-Tip.

Han lade senare till att musiken skulle släppas via legendariska skivbolaget Def Jam, en plats där hans karriär först startade.

LL har den senaste tiden varit mest fokuserad på sin skådespelarkarriär och inte minst hans stående roll i serien “NCIS: Los Angeles” medan Q-Tip hållit sig aktiv på produktionssidan. Han var bland annat exekutiv producent på Danny Browns senaste album “uknowhatimsayin¿”.
I en intervju från 2016 sa LL Cool J angående ett nytt album:
“I got an itch so crazy right now, I need to find a hydrocortisone connect. What I’m going to do is make something for [the fans]. Like a special record that’s really going to be for Hip Hop. I get into experimental mode and I get in my creative scientist mode and I like to do different things.
Every now and then, I like to do weird shit. I’m going to give them something special, you’ll see. And what it’s gonna do is, it’s going to change the game because a lot of people are getting away with 25-point games right now and they need someone to drop 50 on ’em. This shit is crazy to me!”
