Cypress Hill har genom åren släppt nio album, däribland multiplatinasäljande “Black Sunday” och senast 2018 års kritikerrosade “Elephants On Acid”. Nu gör sig B-Real, Sen Dog och Eric Bobo redo för att bjuda på deras tionde verk – nämligen Black Milk-producerade “Back In Black”.
Den första singeln från skivan kom i slutet av oktober, då gruppen släppte “Open Ya Mind” om cannabislegaliseringen och dess utmaningar. Redan våren 2021 kom också låten “Champion Sound”, ett samarbete med amerikanska Major League Baseball, som också återfinns på det kommande albumet.
Nu får vi en tredje låt från sagda album, då gruppen tar hjälp av Dizzy Wright på “Bye Bye”. B-Real säger i ett pressmeddelande:
“In Cypress Hill tradition, we always try to make a dark song. It’s what we’ve been known for, especially on our first three albums. This song is a statement. In a roundabout way, we spoke to the politics of today. Being lulled into this dreamworld by the government. Trying to blind us from the separation that they created, to put us to sleep while they do whatever they want.”
Utöver Dizzy Wright agerar Demrick enda gäst på projektet, en rappare som också utgör gruppen Serial Killers med just B-Real och Xzibit.
“If you’re making music, you don’t just want to make one song. You want to make an album to show people like your skillset, your versatility, and to capture their minds. You can do that with one song, but an album is a journey. You have to take the trip. We were always fond of taking people on a journey, the rollercoaster ride, if you will, and you can only do that with an album”, säger B-Real vidare.
Men vi får inte bara ny musik. I vår väntas också en ny dokumentär om gruppen titulerad “Insane In The Brain: Cypress Hill”. I mars åker man dessutom ut på turné i USA.
