Likt vad Nas gjorde i samband med 20-årsjubileet för “Illmatic” förra året, siktar nu A Tribe Called Quest på att släppa en nyutgåva av deras 25 år gamla debut “People’s Instinctive Travels And The Paths of Rhythm”. Albumet är nymastrat av Bob Power (som mastrade ATCQ:s tre första album och dessutom Black Sheep och De La Soul) och bjuder på remixer från artister som på ett eller annat sätt inspirerats av gruppen. I en pressrelease pratar Q-Tip om sina känslor inför albumet:
“I had this album in my head for years before I did it. Looking at it overall, to see the thoughts of a 16-year-old gain any kind of acknowledgement makes me feel like I have arrived. But to see it in this incarnation… I’m humbled.”
Även Ali Shaheed Muhammad uttalar sig i meddelandet:
“This album means a lot. It was the beginning of our careers; the beginning of our imprint; the beginning of seeing life the way we saw it, and being able to put it down in words and music.”
Nyutgåvan släpps 13:e november.
