Post Malone har (återigen) fått en shoutout av Allen Iverson i samband med att låten “White Iverson” nått en miljard streams på Spotify.
Streamingplattformen släppte i veckan det andra avsnittet av “Billion Club: TheSeries”, där Posty hedrades för sin tionde låt att nå milstolpen. I avsnittet får vi se sångaren och rapparen fira bedriften genom att spela en match beer pong backstage på O2 Arena i London.
“It feels super cool that the song does connect with people, and I’m just happy to bring… you know joy into anyone’s life when I can. It’s an amazing feeling for me, and that really gave me the confidence and the courage to keep attempting to do what I love. I just appreciate all the support, and it’s the most beautiful feeling in the world for me. Thank you”, säger Post Malone till Spotify.
I ett videoklipp erbjöd 2001 års NBA League MVP själv en hälsning till artisten och uppmanade honom att fortsätta göra det han gör.
“Congrats on 1 billion Spotify streams. The whole world loves this song and I’m honored to be a part of it. Keep that same form, Post”, hälsar Iverson.
Iverson reagerade redan 2016 på att omnämnas och ge titel åt låten, kort efter att den slagit igenom på SoundCloud.
“I want to meet him. He did an awesome job. I was just telling my friend on the way over here that when we get in the car, we hear [‘White Iverson’] at least like 10 times a day. It definitely gets a lot of record play around here. And it’s just an honor for him to make a song with my name in it”, sa han till Complex då.
“White Iverson” släpptes av Post Malone på SoundCloud 2015 och agerade senare ledsingel på hans debutalbum “Stoney”. Låten peakade som nummer 14 på Billboard Hot 100 och är en av åtta låtar av artisten som diamant-certifierats. Musikvideon till låten har sedan dess också passerat en miljard visningar på YouTube.
Post Malone besökte nyligen NPR:s “Tiny Desk Concert” efter att ha släppt sitt senaste album “AUSTIN” i slutet av juli. I samband med släppet berättade han för Zane Lowe hur han mår mycket bättre nu än när han skrev 2022 års platta “Twelve Carat Toothache”:
“Making the last record, I was so, so, so… Well, writing it, I was so, so sad. But now I’m so happy and it’s definitely improved my viewpoint on life.”
Kommentaren är förmodligen delvis baserad på de rykten och den oro många kände för artisten efter att ha betett sig underligt på spelningar under fjolåret. Detta ledde till att han i april gick ut med en video där han förklarade att det inte handlade om droger, utan helt enkelt att pappalivet tagit ut sin rätt.
