Det har snart gått tre år sedan Mac Miller tragiskt miste livet efter en oavsiktlig överdos i september 2018. Den första postuma singeln som släpptes av rapparens familj fick som bekant titeln “Good News” – en titel som också Machine Gun Kellys kommande film hade fram tills nyligen.
I filmen, som regisseras av Tim Sutton, ska MGK spela en aspirerande musiker och historien baseras på bortgångna rappare som Pop Smoke, Lil Peep, Mac Miller och Juice WRLD med flera. Det har dock inte mottagits väl Mac Millers bror, Miller McCormick, som häromdagen uttalade sig om filmen.

Mac Miller’s brother addressed MGK and his upcoming movie based around the life of a troubled musician in their final days. The title is “Good News?”

Och producenterna bakom filmen verkar nu ha lyssnat. Kort efter McCormicks uttalande gick skaparna ut med att man kommer att ändra titeln på filmen.
“Our film is about a fictional musician on the rise with a troubled life. It’s not in any way a biopic or based on any artist’s true life. We realize the title, which was intended as an homage to Mac Miller, and other artists gone too soon, feels disrespectful”, går att läsa i ett uttalande.
“We’ve heard from many people on social media who have found offense with the title so, without hesitation, we will change it.”
Produktionen för den just nu obetitlade filmen väntas påbörjas den 8 juli i Los Angeles. En av producenterna, Rob Paris, har lyft Machine Gun Kelly till skyarna för hans insatser på vita duken. Meriterna inkluderar bland annat “Project Power” med Jamie Foxx, CHIKA och Joseph Gordon-Levitt, “Bird Box” med Sandra Bullock samt rollen som Tommy Lee i “The Dirt”.
