"I’m so excited, I love y’all, but they’re fucking my shit up."
Logic är uppenbarligen inte nöjd med hur Def Jam hanterar hans musiksläpp. Maryland-rapparen gick igår ut på sociala medier och öppet kritiserade bolaget, men var noga med att påpeka att ilskan inte riktades mot vd:n Tunju Balogun.
“Def Jam, why you fucking up my releases, man? First of all, I love you Tunji. Tunji’s my guy, he ain’t got nothing to do with this. What the fuck is going on, man? I told Def Jam that I wanted to release my shit as a two-pack and I just found out that they’re releasing it as two singles at the same time. What kind of shit is that? On top of that, they’re telling me, ‘Oh, don’t drop your music video early ’cause if you do, you might upset our partners who feel like YouTube’s getting an exclusive.’ I don’t give a fuck about none of that shit. I care about my fans, man. I care about Hip Hop. I care about music”, säger han i en video.
Han erkänner att han tidigare brytt sig om pengarna, men med tanke på hans nuvarande ekonomiska situation är det inget han behöver bekymra sig över längre. Det påpekar han också i inlägget och menar att musiken är allt som betyder något.
“And I’ma be honest, years ago, I was playing that game: ‘Don’t do this, release this on this shit’. All for the brand and the money and trying to be fucking extra, and I don’t give a fuck about none of that, man. I have my baby, I have my wife. I’m blessed, bro. I made it. And now I’m here at this place, I ain’t taking nobody’s shit”, säger han och fortsätter med att avslöja när nya albumet “Vinyl Days” kommer:
“Def Jam, do not fuck up my release. Vinyl Days is coming out in June. I’m so excited, I love y’all, but they’re fucking my shit up. Everybody in that building who is really there for me – I love you, thank you so much. Everybody else can eat a dick.”
Det är inte första gången Logic tillrättavisar Def Jam. I oktober 2020 kritiserade han bolaget för att inte betala hans samarbetspartners och menade att det skadade hans personliga relationer med folk han arbetar med. I juli 2021 avslöjade han också att det kommande albumet blir hans sista på Def Jam.
“So I invited all the homies out here in the middle of nowhere. And uhh we just decided to do this Bobby Tarantino EP, 3-P, off the cuff just for fun, just for the summer, just for all the homies. But we actually out here recording this album. It’s gon’ be my last studio album on Def Jam”, säger han på outrot från “Bobby Tarantino III”-spåret “See You Space Cowboy”.
