Demrick, tidigare känd som Young De, har kommit en lång väg sedan sin blygsamma uppväxt i Spokane. Efter att jobbat tillsammans med ikoniska artister som Xzibit, Kurupt & Cypress Hill, som även fungerat som Dem’s mentorer, förbereder sig den erfarna rapparen nu inför releasen av sitt andra studioalbum; “Collect Call,” som släpps den 24:e juni. Albumet gästas av den tunga produktionsprofilen Scoop DeVille (“The Recipe,” “Poetic Justice”), samtidigt som inhopp från Casey Veggies och Lil Debbie är spikade. Releasen av det kommande albumet hypas upp med nya singeln “Back in the Daze,” där Demrick reflekterar över sitt förflutna i Spokane, och sin resa därifrån, i jakten på en karriär inom hiphop. Demrick beskriver det nya projektet som det mest personliga han hittills har skapat, och avslöjar hur ett samtal med hans mamma blev en del av albumet:
“I actually called my mother on the phone and used part of our conversation on the record. The crazy thing is we haven’t really ever spoken about that story until the day of this actual conversation on the record. I was sitting with my boy Ace, and we were just talking about some of by wild stories when I was young. Halfway through the conversation, we just decided to put it on record since its such an outlandish story. I felt people needed to hear it not only for the value of the story, but for the significance it has in who I became. It truly was the turning point of my life going down the right path rather than becoming a follower of others.”
