JID har denna fredag släppt nya albumet “The Forever Story” med gäster som Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Ari Lennox, 21 Savage, Yasiin Bey, EarthGang och Kenny Mason med flera. På produktionssidan hittar vi bland annat Christo, Thundercat, Tommy Brown, Kaytranada och DJ Khalil.
Albumet består av totalt 16 spår, eller 17 om man räknar in nyligen släppta “2007” som enligt JID släpptes som en lös låt på grund av svårigheter med att cleara samplingar. Låten var tänkt att bli outro på albumet som en retrospektiv historia där JID blickar bakåt på hur karriären formades under 2000-talet och framåt. På låten gästar J.Cole, Dreamville-bossen Ibrahim Hamad och JID:s pappa. I samband med låten sa JID:
“As we draw near to The Forever Story, I wanna give insight on the process of trying to put together a solid body work. Initially I wanted to create an album that serves as an origin story and speaks to who I am and what I came from. This song has been in the works for 2 years and was supposed to be the outro on the album. Things didn’t work out but this story is too pertinent to the picture we want to paint. This has been the heaviest project for me to make and I take pride in my vulnerability that came in the midst of creation.”
I samband med releasen skriver JID vidare i sociala medier:
“The official features on The Forever Story, wana say thank you to everyone who helped put these words and sounds together, this meant the world to me because none of this wa[s] eas[y] and your gave your all to my vision”, skriver JID på Instagram.
