Dr. Dre gav 1992 ut sitt ikoniska debutalbum, vilket kommit att bli en av hiphopvärldens mest hyllade och uppskattade verk. Skivan blev hans första projekt efter uppbrottet från N.W.A och introducerade en ung Snoop Doggy Dogg, till vad som skulle bli en lång och framgångsrik karriär. Strax innan jul firade skivan det officiella 30-årsjubileumet, då plattan släpptes 15 december 1992 på Death Row Records.
Idag gör “The Chronic” en återkomst till Spotify efter att ha varit tidigare otillgänglig under en tidsperiod. När Snoop Dogg tog över Death Row Records i februari 2022 togs skivan ned från steamingtjänster och nu släpps skivan åter via skivbolaget Interscope Records. I en pressrelease kommenterar Dr. Dre själv återutgivningen som sker idag 1 februari 2023:
“I am thrilled to bring the Chronic home to its original distribution partner, Interscope Records. Working alongside my longtime colleagues, Steve Berman and John Janick, to re-release the album and make it available to fans all over the world is a full circle moment for me…”
Interscope-bossen Steve Berman säger vidare:

He has also used his platform to fuel some very impactful philanthropic efforts that will ensure his legacy is felt for generations to come. Dre’s solo career all started with the The Chronic, one of the most celebrated recordings of all time.”
Albumet blev våren 2020 även utvald av Library of Congress i Washington D.C. för att bevaras i det så kallade National Recording Registry för musik som är “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
