På senare år har marijuana blivit legaliserad på allt fler platser, däribland flera stater i USA. I ljuset av denna utveckling kommer nu Netflix-dokumentären “Grass Is Greener”, skapad av hiphop-pionjären Fab 5 Freddy känd från Yo! MTV Raps. I dokumentären undersöks och diskuteras kopplingen mellan konst, musik och marijuana. Medverkande i dokumentären är bland annat Snoop Dogg. På sociala medier skriver Fab 5 Freddy om sin relation till Los Angeles-rapparen:

“I directed his first music vid, “Whats My Name” & turned him & the #DogPound into dogs. I was proud to introduce him to the world on YO! MTV Raps. Working w/him on my film was amazing! Oh yeah, the old timers use to tell me,”if you don’t cough, you don’t get off”

Förutom Snoop Dogg så medverkar även B-Real och Damian Marley i dokumentären som även problematiserar kring stigmat som omgärdar användandet och legalisering.

“…shine a light on weed’s dark past by outlining the racial disparity associated with the criminalization of the drug while also describing how these laws have had a lasting impact on Black and Latino communities.”

“Grass Is Greener” har premiär på Netflix den 20:e april.
