Natten till måndag var det återigen dags för Grammy Awards, en av årets viktigaste händelser inom musikbranschen. Den 64:e upplagan hölls i Las Vegas, med återvändande värden Trevor Noah som guide genom kvällen. Detta efter att galan skjutits fram och flyttats på grund av coronarestriktioner, från sitt tilltänkta januaridatum på Crypto.com Arena (tidigare Staples Center) i Los Angeles.
Den stora vinnaren blev jazz/r&b-artisten Jon Batiste, vars hyllade album “We Are” tog hem flertalet kategorier. Däribland bland tunga Album of the Year. Men några som också roffade åt sig hela fyra statyetter var duon Silk Sonic – bestående av Anderson .Paak och Bruno Mars – främst med låten “Leave The Door Open”.
Kanye West, som först var tilltänkt att uppträda på galan men ströks från lineupen på grund av hans beteende online (enligt vissa medier), tog hem två kategorier – Best Rap Song med Jay-Z för “Jail” och Best Melodic Rap Performance med The Weeknd och Lil Baby för “Hurricane”. Detta gör honom till den rappare med flest Grammy-statyetter någonsin, då han tangerar Jay-Z:s rekord med 24 statyetter totalt.
Övrigt att notera är att Doja Cat och SZA, som vann kategorin Best Pop Duo/Group Performance med samarbetet “Kiss Me More”, blev den första svarta kvinnliga duon att vinna bästa gruppframförande. Baby Keem tog hem sin först Grammy för samarbetet “family ties” med kusinen Kendrick Lamar och Tyler, the Creator vann Best Rap Album med “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST”. Snoh Aalegra och Ludwig Göransson stod nominerade i varsin kategori, men vann inga statyetter denna gång.
