Under Grammy Awards som hölls i Los Angeles på söndagsnatten var det dags igen – Kanye West reagerade på att Beck’s album “Morning Phase” tog hem statyetten för “Årets Album” på bekostnad av Beyonce’s skiva “Beyonce”. På scen när priset delades ut ser man hur Kanye reagerar på Becks tacktal och tar några steg mot podiet och mikrofonen men hejdar sig och går av scenen. Många åskådare trodde då att Kanye nu måhända skämtade under själva galan i år, med den världskända “ranten” för sex år sedan i färskt minne då han avbröt Taylor Swift på scen.
Kanye visade dock i en intervju på efterfesten att han var de facto mycket upprörd över att Beck vann. Kanye menar att Beck skulle ha insett felaktigheten och överlämnat statyetten själv till Beyoncé.
“If they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t going to play with them no more. “Flawless,” Beyonce’s video and Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyonce. And, at this point, we tired of it. Because what happens is that when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face …”
