Top Dawg Entertainment hade ett kanonår förra året, och kritiker sattes i en svår situation när de skulle sätta ihop listor över årets bästa album. Black Hippy hade ju inte mindre än tre album som platsade i topp 10: Kendrick Lamars “GKMC”, Ab-Souls “Control System” och inte minst ScHoolboy Qs “Habits and Contradictions”. Nu är ScHoolboy Q näste man upp för albumsläpp, lyricisten som är känd för sina ordlekar och energiska framtoning (och sitt frekventa användande av fiskehattar?). I en intervju med MTV pratade Q om sitt nästa projekt “Oxymoron”, vilket blir hans tredje album, men det första med ett stort skivbolag i ryggen (Interscope):

“It’ll probably be out in a few months. We gon’ get these singles right, get them together and place everything in order. Then we gonna get it crackin’ from there. I haven’t leaked a record yet, so I don’t wanna say too much yet until I leak the record. But Oxymoron is definitely coming this year and we gonna have some fun.”

Angående samarbeten och features förklarar ScHoolboy att han håll det inom familjen:

“I worked with Pharrell on the album, I worked with Kendrick on the album, you know, like the homies, A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown. I just kept it real in house with my homies. This my first album; it’s real special to me. I don’t wanna be messing with this dude, with this dude, this dude. It’s all in house, it’s the same Q. Like the fans, I’mma give them what they want.”
