Pop Smokes filmdebut “Boggie” släpps med merch och soundtrack

I fredags hade filmen “Boogie” premiär i USA – en film som inte bara markerade Eddie Huangs regidebut, utan även bortgångna rapparen Pop Smokes första (och sista) roll som skådespelare. Filmen följer den unga basketstjärnan Alfred “Boogie” Chin, spelad av Taylor Takahashi, från Queens, New York. Pop Smoke spelar Boogies rival Monk.

Inför premiären släpptes låten “AP” och nu får vi soundtracket i dess helhet. Här hittar i vi fler tidigare osläppta låtar med Pop Smoke, samt bidrag av Jacquees, Fivio Foreign, Shef G m.fl.

“Eddie’s project was a welcomed opportunity to work with him and I’m proud of what the soundtrack represents. I’m excited for Pop’s acting debut – for his fans to experience this side of his talent – and hope that the music we’ve put together gives fans around the world a piece of Brooklyn”, säger Steven Victor, VD för Victor Victor Worldwide och tidigare manager för Pop Smoke, i ett pressmeddelande.

Soundtracket, precis som den tillhörande kapselkollektionen, släpps via just Victor Victor Worldwide och Republic Records i samarbete med Focus Features.

“We sought inspiration from the great soundtrack albums of our time, like Above the Rim and the Brooklyn Drill movement pioneered by Pop Smoke, 808 Melo and Victor Victor Worldwide. This album is meant to represent the pulse of the streets of New York City”, säger Huang och exekutiva producenten för “Boogie”, Rafael Martinez.
