En av 1990-talets mest populära TV-serier “Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” som sändes mellan 1990-1996 kan komma att återupplivas i TV-rutan framgent. Alla minns vi huvudrollsinnehavaren Will Smith som fick sitt genombrott som skådespelare samt musikkarriären fick en rejäl skjuts då han 1987-1993 släppte hela fem album med Philadelphia-kollegan DJ Jazzy Jeff. Will Smith gick sedan solo och släppte ett antal soloskivor och har en framgångsrik skådespelarkarriär. DJ Jazzy Jeff har även han släppt ett flertal musikprojekt via egna etiketten A Touch Of Jazz samt turnerat med olika artister och spelat skivor i världens alla hörn.

I slutet av augusti kommer den ikoniska duon till Europa för två spelningar och i intervju med brittisk media berättar DJ Jazzy Jeff att tankar på att återuppliva TV-serien ofta dyker upp på agendan. Redan för ett par år sedan fanns uppgifter i amerikansk media kring ett projekt där serien skulle återupplivas med Jada Pinkett-Smith som exekutiv producent. Nu ger även Jazzy Jeff en strimma av hopp:

“There have been talks with people about doing something. I think it would be cool if they did it and go down memory lane again.”

“It’s a blessing to be part of something that people still hold in high regard. You can’t beat that. It’s hard for people to keep their attention span normally, but to be able to keep it for all these years and transcend generations, put their kids onto it, this is deep.”

Det är oklart om Will Smith och Jazzy Jeff kommer finnas i några roller i en nyversion av serien. DJ-ikonen kommenterade även de stundande spelningarna:

“People aren’t coming to hear new stuff, they’re coming for stuff they know. So the nervousness or uneasiness you might have about performing – you’re not performing for people who don’t know who you are. This is a tribute.”
