Hintar också om kommande album: "It’s gonna be worth the wait".

Den kanadensiska producenten och The Celestics-medlemmen Kaytranada är nu tillbaka i rollen som just producent med låten “Dysfunctional” som framförs av duon VanJess. Till Zane Lowe på Beats 1 säger han om låten:

“‘Dysfunctional’was really this song about not calling me back and everything, or not, a relationship that doesn’t work and you want this relationship to work, but it’s not gonna work. And that’s what I’m aiming for on this song. I came out with this little hook that you hear in the beginning. That’s me singing, and I just had this idea of whatever. Not calling me back. What’s up with that? And VanJess came too, I think, like couple hours later and then just did what they did perfectly. Like in one take.”

VanJess är en nigeriansk/amerikansk R&B-duo bestående av systrarna Ivana och Jessica Nwokike. De började sin karriär på YouTube med att framföra coverlåtar och gjorde viral succé med Drakes “Headlines”. Duon släppte sitt debutalbum “Silk Canvas” under 2018 och den innehåller bland annat “Another Lover” som även den producerades av Kaytranada.

Det är många fans som ser fram emot Kaytranadas uppföljare till debuten “99.9%”, som kom 2016, och enligt producenten själv är det inte långt kvar och väntan kommer vara väl värd.

“I’m working hard on this record. Everybody’s been asking, ‘Yo, where is it? Where is it?’ But you know, I’m just working on it hard. It’s gonna come out soon and when it’s gonna come out, people are gonna shut up and enjoy … It’s gonna be worth the wait. You’re gonna see an evolution of Kaytranada. It’s not gonna be just what it was. It’s gonna be more than what it was. So that’s how I see it and that’s how I hear it.”
